Renault has announced that its 1.5-litre dCi 90 engine, available in both its Renault Clio and Renault Captur models, is now available with a six-speed EDC gearbox. The 1.5-litre engine produces 90bhp and 148lb ft of torque, and emits 95g/km of CO2 in the Clio, while it also has a claimed 76mpg combined economy figure. The engine is only available on Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique MediaNav S trims in the Clio and Captur, with prices starting at £16,595 and £17,395 respectively.
The new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has lapped the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 37.40 seconds. The car, which is due on sale next year, is now four seconds faster than the Camaro ZL1, but Chevrolet says that the time was set during less-than-ideal conditions and that on a dry track the car could be as much as six seconds faster.
Volvo has revealed a portable solar charging station concept for its V60 plug-in hybrid. The result of a design competition held earlier this year, the 'Pure Tension pavilion' is intended to be rapidly deployable and offers mobile charging for the car. Volvo has confirmed the pavilion won't be put into production.
