The Pininfarina Alfa Romeo concept car has been unveiled at the Geneva motor show.

The concept has been commissioned to celebrate Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary and will also form part of Alfa Romeo’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

Pininfarina has said the two-seater Spyder will be an innovative and modern interpretation of classic Alfa and Pininfarina spiders from the past. It is decribed by the company's CEO as being "the manifesto of our future business".

The concept is one of two special models celebrating Alfa’s century at March’s Geneva show. Bertone will also display a concept, which will be based on the Alfa 8C Competizione supercar.

Both cars are billed purely as prototypes and have not been earmarked for production.

Alfa’s 100th anniversary celebrations will also form the basis of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
