March figures expected to be company's best ever

Land Rover is set to announce that a record 11,000 of its vehicles were sold in the UK during March.

Figures are expected to show that the brand sold 60 units more than during the same period last year, pushing Land Rover to break its previous monthly sales record.

These figures mark the end of a successful first quarter of 2010 after a 58 per cent year-on-year increase in sales in January.

John Edwards, Land Rover’s managing director, attributed the boost in sales to the economic upturn and the poor winter weather in the UK.

He said: "Heavy snow and icy conditions last month meant car buyers were looking for a vehicle that provides them with the all-terrain capability to keep them on the roads."
