Saab production at its base in Trollhattan restarted today.

Production was halted for seven weeks while Spyker's takeover of the company from GM was completed.

“Today’s resumption of production is a milestone in the history of our company” said Saab boss Jan Ake Jonsson. “We are up and running as an independent manufacturer."

To mark the occasion Jonsson, Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller and Trollhattan plant director Gunnar Brunius took up positions on the line alongside assembly workers as the first batch of cars was built.

The first car off the line was a Saab 9-5, which will be used as a test car prior to production ramping up later this year.
