Saab owner Victor Muller says the firm is in talks with possible tech partners

Saab owner Victor Muller has said the firm is in talks with several possible partners about sharing technologies.

Muller said a large number of “serious” players are keen to get involved with Saab, both in wanting to use Saab’s technology and allow the Swedish firm to use theirs.

“Nobody sees us as a threat so everybody wants to talk with us," Muller said on a trip to meet French Saab dealers. "And there are good chances that we will be supplying our technology to third parties, we're not going to be just on the demand side of things."

Muller is keen to partner with other firms as part of his plan for Saab to return to profitability by 2012. Saab is partnering General Motors with its new 9-5 and 9-4X models, as well as on the ageing 9-3.

Muller has made developing a new 9-3 and a smaller Mini rival top priorities and it is probable that the firm will enter into a partnership with another manufacturer in developing these cars.
