Saab workers have visited General Motors’ Detroit headquarters to urge the US car giant to sell its Swedish subsidiary.
Saab faces extinction if GM fails to agree a deal with an interested party by its self-imposed deadline of tomorrow. Around 50 workers and 30 Saab owners braved the wintery conditions in Detroit yesterday to voice their feelings to GM.
Some 3400 Saab employees face losing their jobs should the firm be wound down, while 1100 worldwide dealers would be forced to find new franchises.
Dutch sports car manufacturer Spyker is the only known bidder for Saab. The Swedish government has said it will meet with GM next week to establish the firm's intentions for Saab.
