Skoda's 2010 sales will be a record high for the Czech manufacturer

Skoda's 2010 sales will be a record high for the Czech manufacturer, it has announced.

This year’s sales have already outstripped those of the entirety of 2009’s.

More than 700,000 cars have been sold between January and November, a rise of 12.3 per cent compared with the entirety of last year. Of these, Skoda UK sold 33,100 vehicles, up 23 per cent when compared to the same period last year.

The company’s success has been attributed to booming sales in China, Russia and India as well as in emerging markets such as Egypt, where figures rose by over 150 per cent.

When compared with last year, November sales have revealed that the company’s Yeti has done best, increasing sales by 75.5 per cent, to 4,500 vehicles, whereas the Octavia Tour took the biggest hit, decreasing by 51.6 per cent to 1800 vehicles.

Skoda sold 684,200 cars last year, its previous best year for sales.
