GM is close to picking its preferred bidder for Saab - and Spyker is favourite according to reports.
Swedish news agency TT is reporting that GM favours a buyer that has experience in car production on a small scale and that plans to keep production in Sweden. This makes Spyker the most likely option.
"There are signals everywhere showing we are well on track," said a Saab spokesman.
GM has said it will close Saab at the end of the year if it cannot find a buyer, but has said it will extend fund sto the company beyond that date if sale talks are progressing.
