Hummer supporters are preparing to rally to save the ailing GM brand from closure.
The Capital & Labor International Coalition (CLIC) has been formed with the aim of saving the iconic brand. To achieve this, it will be holding a summit on 11 April in Chicago.
Organisers of the event, in the Hall of Fame Room at Ditka’s restaurant in Chicago, promise "over four hours of good food and discussion".
All stakeholders and dealers have been asked to attend. Hummer CEO Jim Taylor is on the guest list. The event has support from executives of the employer’s union United Auto Workers and CLIC has asked US Senator Roland Burris to liaise with the government on its behalf.
Thane Ritchie, chairman of CLIC, said: "We have researched the Hummer situation for the past month and we believe [the brand] can be saved and continue to offer great jobs and products to America and globally."
