Ford’s innovative new Revoknuckle front suspension system from its Focus RS road car has featured in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) this season.
BTCC independent team Team Aon has used Revoknuckle in its twin Ford Focus ST cars and it achieved a pole position and three podium finishes in its debut season.
Revoknuckle was specifically designed for the 300bhp Focus RS to allow it to handle as much power as possible through its front wheels.
Its design modifies the MacPherson strut front suspension arrangement, to allow high power and torque to be handled by the front wheels, while minimising torque steer.
Gerard Quinn, Ford’s motorsport manager for Europe, said: “This is a great example of an independent team using state-of-the-art Ford road car technology to great effect in racing. It’s a credit to the team behind the development of the Revoknuckle that it can be adapted so readily for a competition environment and be so effective.”
