Mito and Giulietta to get twin-clutch auto gearbox from later this year

Alfa Romeo will introduce a new twin-clutch TCT auto gearbox on the Mito late this year and the Giulietta in spring 2011.

The six-speed design, developed in-house by Fiat, employs dry clutches and has a torque capacity of 188lb ft, just enough to cope with the Giulietta Cloverleaf's 177lb ft 1.7 turbo on overboost.

Initially it will only be fitted to the 135bhp 1.4 Mito and the 170bhp 1.4 petrol and 2.0 diesel Giuliettas.
