167bhp Multiair engine heading for Abarth models

The Abarth versions of Fiat’s 500 and Punto Evo are set to get a 167bhp version of the Multiair engine.

The frugal yet potent 1.4-litre engine has just been fitted to the Mito Cloverleaf, which emits just 139g/km of CO2.

The facelifted Punto will get the Multiair unit in standard form, which would open the door for an even more powerful Essesse version with around 200bhp.

When fitted to the smaller 500, the 167bhp turbocharged model will most likely be the hottest version. The engine will also be used in the forthcoming 500 Abarth cabrio.
