Ford will launch hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants of its new C-Max in 2013.
Both variants will be built at the firm’s Valencia plant in Spain, and the factory will also build the seven-seat C-Max for export to the North American market from 2011 as part of Ford’s global vehicle strategy.

The investment in the Valencia plant for building the C-Max is more than $400 million (£270m), with around 10 per cent of this being invested in the construction of the hybrid variants.
The Spanish and Valencian governments have provided the highest grants from within the European Union to support the building of the C-Max.
The two C-Max variants confirmed today are part of the five hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles Ford will launch by 2013.
Next year will see an all-electric Transit Connect launched, while 2012 will see the launch of an electric version of the new Focus. A fifth alternatively fuelled vehicle will be launched at a later date.
