Currently reading: More luxury for revised Range Rover

Order books open this month for the 2015 model year Range Rover, which gets a plush new trim level and a tweaked SDV8 powerplant

The Range Rover has been updated for the 2015 model year, with a UK launch for the plush 'Autobiography Black' trim among the key changes brought to the SUV.

Only available in long-wheelbase form, Autobiography Black Range Rovers have luxurious features including two individual rear seats and a semi-aniline leather interior. Exterior details include new black and chrome exterior trim, LED tail lights, and unique 21- and 22-inch alloy wheels. Order books for the new variant open in August.

Other changes for the 2015 model include new alloy wheel designs, increased personalisation features, new convenience options and a new ‘InControl’ feature that remotely connects your car to your smartphone and can sync to apps and track the car if stolen.

This is also offered on the 2015 Range Rover Sport, which is being confirmed alongside the updated Range Rover line-up.

Both models get a tweaked SDV8 engine with peak torque increased from 516lb ft to 546lb ft, which is now available over a wider band of 1700-3300rpm. The eight-speed automatic gearbox is also revised, but economy and CO2 figures for SDV8 models are unchanged.

Order books open for the MY15 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport this month.
