Volkswagen’s new Touran compact MPV has gone on sale in the UK and will cost from £17,585, the company has revealed.
The entry-level model is the 1.2 TSI in S trim complete with a six-speed manual ’box; standard kit includes 15-inch alloy wheels, air-con, cruise control and a hill hold function.

The engine has 104bhp and 129lb ft of torque and is capable of returning 44.1mpg, while CO2 emissions are 149g/km. A 1.2 TSI S Bluemotion Technology model costs from £18,220 and adds low resistance tyres, stop-start, new badging and an energy recovery system that stores energy lost under braking. This boosts economy to 47.9mpg and CO2 emissions are cut to 139g/km.
Other engines include a 1.6 TDI with either 89bhp or 104bhp; a six-speed mauual is standard, while a seven-speed DSG can be added to 104bhp versions of the 1.6 TDI model.
A 138bhp 2.0 TDI engine, which can be fitted with either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG gearbox, is also offered. The range-topping Touran is a 168bhp 2.0 TDI in Sport trim mated to a six-speed DSG ’box; this model costs from £25,535.

The other petrol model in the range is a 138bhp 1.4 TSI unit with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox.
SE trim adds 16-inch alloys, chrome-finished roof rails and a leather steering wheel, while Sport trim adds extra chrome trim, climate control, Alcantara seat linings and a CD autochanger.
The new Touran is available to order now, with first deliveries expected on 22 September.
