Two-seat plug-in hybrid concept won't be built, says Lutz

The Cadillac Converj concept will not make production, according to reports.

Outgoing General Motors vice chairman Bob Lutz had announced earlier this year that the plug-in hybrid concept would be produced sometime after 2012.

However, he has subsequently reported that will no longer be built because, "simply, other priorities and the conviction that the Volt and Ampera will use all available capacity for years to come."

The two-seat Cadillac Converj was to use the same plug-in technology as the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera.

Cadillac spokesman Nick Twork said: "It has always been a concept. It was never announced officially that we were going to do the Converj. We never issued a press release."
