Electric version could be on sale in Europe in 2011

This is the Renault Fluence - a new saloon that could be sold in Europe as an electric car.

The standard Renault Fluence is set to be built in Turkey, where the Megane saloon was previously made, and go on sale on Turkey, Russia and Romania only.

However, an electric version of the Fluence is being developed, and will be trialled in Israel as part of a tie-in with Project Better Place, which is developing electric car charging systems.

If the tests are successful, the Fluence electric car is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2011.

Renault’s three electric car charging charging systems will be display at next month's Frankfurt motor show.

These are it’s high-powered, quick-charge plug-in system, an overnight, home-based plug-in system and its automated ‘Quick Drop’ system, which can remove and replace a battery in three minutes.
