Winner will be revealed at the Geneva motor show next month

Nominations for World Car of the Year have been announced.

The 10-strong shortlist has been chosen by 59 jurors and is spearheaded by the 2010 European Car of the Year, the Volkswagen Polo.

Other nominations include the BMW X1, Mercedes E-class and Porsche Panamera. Last year’s winner was the Volkswagen Golf.

The winner will be announced at the Geneva motor show next month. Other categories include Performance Car of the Year and Green Car of the Year. Last year’s performance winner was the Nissan GT-R.
