GM Europe insists the next Corsa will be tuned to European standards, despite Korean development

General Motors Europe has promised to ensure its all-new Corsa’s dynamics will be suited to European tastes.

The next Opel/Vauxhall Corsa platform is currently being developed at General Motors’ Korean R&D base as part of the large investment in the country by GM Europe’s parent firm in Detroit.

But GM Europe will fine-tune the car for its native market. “The next Corsa will use that platform but the car will be engineered in Germany,” said a source.

Design work on the new Corsa is also ongoing in Korea, GM DAT boss Mike Arcamone has previously told Autocar, and it could even be manufactured in that country.

A revised Corsa will reach UK showrooms in the new year, with a replacement due by the middle of the decade. By then it will be joined in the range by a brace of new city cars: one budget, one a premium Mini rival, and both based on different platforms.Read the full story on the revised Vauxhall Corsa
